In my experience it has more of the transistors speed and autority in the bass department yes,but without the dryness and often overdamping/undynamic qualities of transistoramps in that area.
Overall not excactly like the traditional cap coupling SET amps either, but it has the naturalness of tubes in spades, maybe a tad less "coloured" than cap coupling.
Cap coupling just seem to sound a little uncontrolled, fuzzy and unlinear in comparsion,IMO.Transformer coupling with good transformers just seem more transparent,a more even and natural transfer of the signals energy, more dynamics, aso , you hear the instruments clearer with their own characteristics, and in my view more musical engaging.
Its difficult to describe, but I believe you can expect of the monokit ,some of the things described about Kegon Balanced for example : http://www.dagogo.com/AudioNoteKeganBal.html
And remember I wrote SOME ;-)I had the paralell 300B version of the monokit with iHiB c-core interstage and output transformers.
Now I'm about to build them again, this time with AN ultraHiB silver interstage and ultraHiB silver output transformers, which I bought used on Audiogon.
