Achieving ultra quiet with M3 pre

Builders, I'd appreciate your experience in getting the hum of the M3 pre kit as low as possible.

I've wired per instructions and basically my pre is stock. The pre was plenty quiet when paired with my kit1, as long as the pot on the kit1 was kept at about 12 o'clock.

Now I've built the interstage monos (my impression to follow if you're interested--suffice to say for now that they are already something very special) and the gain is close to the kit1 at max. The hum is low in nature and I've traced the majority to the M3.

What do you suggest I try to get it as silent as possible?
