Your tweeter wires had corroded almost to the point of breaking, in the Singapore climate - and the knocks involved in transporting them (plus possibly some severe temperature changes, if they were in an aircraft hold) caused the corroded wire(s) to break. :-((

If Magnepan don't come back to you, you might like to try the Aussie importer, Bill McLean. He's a very helpful bloke and a) should have tweeter wire kits in stock or b) be able to fix them for you (although of course this means you'd have to ship them to him).

I suggest you do remove the socks - so you can examine the wiring carefully, with a good light.
