RE: Maggies 1.6 - help please

I am going to guess that the tweeters were corroded by the tropical weather and being fragile in that state broke in shipping. If you are up to the DIY part then order a tweeter foil kit from Magnepan.

We went through the diagnostic process with the MMG last year and we can do it for the 1.6 in similar fashion, but it is only worth while if there is something you can do on your own to repair them. You would first need to prepare for soldering and checking broken solder joints. Corroded wire and foil are not detectable by sight through the cloth, you need to remove the cloth for that. Delam of the wires on the bass can be detected easily when it is quite extensive but requires an experienced hand to feel the wires popping up at the top and bottom at the earlier stages. Otherwise, that too requires removal of the covers.
