are you thinking A370PEQ or H550PEQ3? i'm using the A370PEQ for 2 woofers. they're 16 ohms so 3 might not be that bad.
3 per side would make nice line sources.
what you can see is subsonic usually. being able to reproduce the subsonics at a volume that is meaningful, without distorting the rest, takes some power and control. the gr servo woofer is good at it. doing it open baffle takes more woofers, but it's a good trick.
