In fact, it says on the page that "To achieve higher output in an infinite baffle or dipole configuration, SW-12-16FR has been designed so that 2 or 3 drivers can be connected to a single amplifier".
So maybe 3 drivers per side would be a good compromise, cost wise at least.
Room is about 45m2. I'm definitely not looking for the highest sound pressures, but best possible sound (for the price...). In my opinion, if you can see the bass element moving, what you're hearing is mostly distortion. More the drivers, less the distortion.
