I think you also have to consider that buying used 1.6's is more involved than buying new. Some of them were made with the old adhesives that they replaced about 10 years ago. The old adhesives tended to deteriorate when exposed to moisture, requiring a rebuild of the diaphragm at some point. You could potentially check the serial numbers to make sure you get later ones, but, as I said, more involved. And then you have the possibility of shipping damage.
I think you'll get a lot of pleasure out of the system that you loved. I owned a pair of MMG's for a while, and they're magnificent speakers. Nothing else touches them for that kind of money. And once they're broken in (it takes a while for the bass to fully develop) and you're familiar with the sound, there are number of simple modifications you can make that will make them sound even better.
