I owned MMG's a couple years ago, so not sure about the new version, but I would take the 1.6's over them without even thinking about it. I use the 1.6's now. No comparision. I have used my 1.6's in a very small room with low ceilings, yeah there had to be some treatment at the reflection points, but the sound was pretty good. I think you are on the right track thinking about going bigger. Much more versatile in the long run...
