My thoughts..

Magnepans radiate evenly on a horizontal plane, so vertical slat-like blinds might have more diffusive effect. That said, if vertical blinds are not left-right symmetrical, it's likely you would experience an asymmetrical soundstage. Large horizontal blinds (preferably made with wood for its resonant qualities) with convex surfaces would probably be your best bet. You can adjust the diffusing characteristics by rotating them as well!
