Not exactly a credible source.

Not like I'm a die-hard champion of their program, but some of their investigative reporting has been really good. On the air for 54 years.
When have they ever botched their reporting or got a story completely wrong? How often does that happen?
Ever since then, they've been on a more or less continuous slide towards mediocrity, and their audience has shrunk and skewed more and more towards the retirement home demographic, as the residents tune in for the latest expose on anyone opposed to official government narratives or corporate culture.
Coming up next week on 60 Minutes: Revealed! The horrible things which MTG has said about the latest woke orthodoxy! (Oops - I think they already ran that segment a year or so ago!)
BTW, vacuous, do YOU live in a retirement home? ;-)
Too many (otherwise) reliable witness have attested to significant symptoms for the problem to be dismissed on account of no brain damage based on CAT scans, MRIs, etc. .
Maybe the symptoms are psychosomatic but there are just too many victims for that to be entirely plausible. Science just isn't all the way in many areas.
Do we remember when one-number THD was considered the be-all & end-all of amplifier sound evaluation?

Is that you in the photo Comrade Chris? Yes, you do appear to be rather incontinent, if not with actual diapers, surely with your speech.
You know I've never worn Depends in my life, nor do I have a stash of Depends pictures (like you evidently do!). The only way to account for the picture in your post is to conclude that it must be one of your friends at the retirement home where you live - where the big event of the week is to gather round the communal TV set for the weekly broadcast of 60 Minutes - God's unvarnished truth! ;-)
.
One thing I don't like is a bum rap, but if you want to keep generating them, that's on you.
BTW, I notice in fact that you never did answer my question as to whether you live in a retirement home (with your stash of pictures of old men in Depends). That's OK with me - whatever floats your boat! ;-)
Back in the day if your receptionist says Mike Wallace is in the lobby, you head out the back door and hope camera crews aren't in the parking lot!
It's infotainment. Some information but the primary role of 60 Minutes is to entertain.

...the story on W. that cost Dan Rather his job...
Among others. 60 Minutes is infotainment.
I'm not saying they're blowing smoke out their asses this time, but I'll wait till some other actual news source verifies.

From my quick google search... The main reason for Dan Rather's departure from 60 Minutes was a controversy over a 2004 report he did on President George W. Bush's National Guard service during the Vietnam War. Made claims that could not be authenticated.
Linked: Ed Bradley video clip on Audi sudden acceleration.
The Audi acceleration story (which was out and out faked), AND the W. story that cost Dan Rather his job. I just left out the "AND."
On top of which, I've watched CBS and NBC network news casts and IMO even those are 40% bullshit. And they're supposed to be actual news, not newsiness like 60 Minutes .

Gotta rope in Ed Bradley... And there's more! The Politico article below also lists a botched Benghazi report, a fawning Jeff Bezos interview, and a toothless interview with an NSA director.
So they're not an impartial crucible of truth. They get stuff wrong. The scales have fallen from my eyes!
I'm not saying the producers make up everything just that it shouldn't be confused with actual news, and any story run on the show should be taken with a grain of salt until it's verified elsewhere.

so, you have the correct approach.
Magazines sure aren't newspapers and too many newspapers strive to be magazines.
Never considered 60 Minutes a source of news, but usually a good source of information.
Also haven't watched it in at least 25 years.
In the 70's and 80's, though they presented some great interviews and interesting topics.
AND... Andy Rooney.

Every news organization that has ever existed has made a mistake on occasion.
The test is whether they admit it and take steps to prevent it in the future.
Else they are merely 'infotainment'.
