Gotta rope in Ed Bradley... And there's more! The Politico article below also lists a botched Benghazi report, a fawning Jeff Bezos interview, and a toothless interview with an NSA director.
So they're not an impartial crucible of truth. They get stuff wrong. The scales have fallen from my eyes!

I'm not saying the producers make up everything just that it shouldn't be confused with actual news, and any story run on the show should be taken with a grain of salt until it's verified elsewhere.

so, you have the correct approach.
Magazines sure aren't newspapers and too many newspapers strive to be magazines.
Never considered 60 Minutes a source of news, but usually a good source of information.
Also haven't watched it in at least 25 years.
In the 70's and 80's, though they presented some great interviews and interesting topics.
