I don't know where you call home but in the northern California area they can be found in Orchard Supply Hardware stores. Most industrial supply companies can order stuff like this for you. Could probably check with a place that sells reloading supplies for guns and see where they get their lead.This is actually a pretty popular tweak - I've heard of those that use up to four 25 pound bars per speaker to seriously increase the mass. The nice thing about lead is that it doesn't really introduce any problems of its own (other than the obvious health issues). It is very dead acoustically. Some people line the inside of their speaker cabinets with layers of lead sheet which adds mass but also tremendously lowers the resonant frequency of the walls without the same detrimental effects that some types of damping have.
