It is quite stiff and difficult to damp.Actually its high stiffness is a plus as for a given panel size the greater stiffness will result in a higher resonant frequency which is easier to damp than a lower frequency. Also there's just less high frequency acoustic energy to begin with than there is lower frequency acoustic energy.
I've had very good results using maple damped with 1/16" thick natural cork. My chassis are typically much smaller than more typical sizes so perhaps some 1/8" thick cork for the larger stuff would be better.
