All of the Teflon's are mucho expensive. I would agree that the primary (large) cap should be of the best quality and of the "temperment" that best suits your driver and personal taste's. But the bypass cap doesn't have to be way over the top (the teflon's come into this category for me). The Sonicap 2's are about $2-3 each vs 10x-20x more for the Teflon's.Try Relcap's or the Sonicap 2's for bypassing. I used the 2's (.1uF) to bypass the regular Sonicaps in my tweeter crossover recently and it brought out a more extended top end. Perhaps a little bit more forward than before, but definitely more realistic sounding and very musical. I used Relcap RT's (.1uF) to bypass the coupling caps in my universal player - also with very good results.
And don't worry about changing the filtering characteristics of your crossover with a measly .1uF bypass. Most caps don't even come close to that level of precision in their stated values. And it probably takes .5uF or more to make any audible difference.
Enjoy,
Bob
