I'm digging this tonewood plinth idea as it's much better sounding than MDF, IMHO. It's interesting how many tonearm wands and turntable bases use tonewoods (such as Acacia for wands) since phono applications are *very* sensitive to resonances. The Acacia board I mentioned sounds very musically lively with improved listening cues and only does good for the presentation, IMHO. For those who are interested, Ross 'Dress For Less' Store has various sized Catskill Craftsmen Acacia wood cutting boards at a deep discount. I bought another one (19" x 13") for use under my digital CATV terminal and it sounds fab there, too. BTW, I tried filling the "juice groove" located on one side of the board with Blu-Tack and it killed the sound. Also BTW, I have a more pricey John Boos Maple board (18" x 12" x 2-1/4") on order for use under my CDP/transport as I'm sure it's more inert higher mass will be of greater benefit there than any other device in my system. Cheers
