I must say that I won't ever go back to using MDF again for platforms. I put another 19" x 13" Acacia board under my CDP/transport, replacing it's previous DIY 3/4" MDF isolation platform with tripod set of machined brass cone feet (1-1/8 inch tall, shaped similar to Audio Point 1.0AP1D) and the Acacia board with the hexapod feet slays it, hands down (far more open and natural sounding). I wish others would give this configuration a try and report back here, too, as it's only $8.99 ($20 retail) for the 19" x 13" Acacia board at Ross (plus the cost of pads and finishes). It will be very interesting to audition and compare the performance of the John Boos Maple board under the CDP/transport instead, as I'm anxiously waiting it's delivery :-)
