We did some serious research in that area a few years ago.We tested a large verity of types, brands, and values.
We finally had Peter Monkrey (I may have just mispelled his last name, sorry) from Infinicap custom make some up for us.
We were trying to tame and smooth out the Focal TC120Tdx2 a little.
The best over all sound was using the Axon tin foil caps with no by- passing. These are not cheap though.
However, using the very cheap Axon true cap (a metallized polypropylene) and by-passing it with the .1 mic seti sounded very much like using film and foil. I say 95% as good for a lot less money.
There is definatly something to by-passing.
This by-pass cap works well with many other tweeters too.
We had Peter make us up 1,000 of them.
