Go with the PC 692 and get the 693 plunge base while you're at it. The most indispensable tool is a circle cutting jig, which will allow you to not only to cut perfect holes in which to mount speakers, it produces perfect inlays in which the speakers will sit. It is used with a plunge router. I got mine from Jasper Audio (www.jasperaudio.com).

For bits which you're going to use a lot, especially for cutting MDF go with carbide bits with 1/2 inch shanks, they tend to run a bit truer and hence cooler and last longer. As someone else said for veneer bits and things like that, 1/4 inch will suffice.

For wood veneer, you can use a regular router.

Screws can be used to hold the box together, but using clamps usually results in a box that's more likely to be square. You might wnat to look into some band clamps which nylon straps to hold the cabinet square while the glue dries.
