I used the large angle iron brackets from Home Depot as well. But instead of mounting directly to the wall, I mounted the brackets to two pieces of disimilar plywood sandwiching a piece of dense foam. This made it easier for me to square the brackets; the wood made it easier to mount to the wall.Instead of using foam or sealant on top of the bracket where the shelf goes, I used archery field points, pointing up, fastened to the brackets with small nuts and small "o" rings used as washers. The points and nuts allowed me to adjust the shelf for level. The end result is a very ridged but light shelf, appropriate, I understand, for the LP-12.
I'm toying with the idea of spraying the entire thing with a rubberish spray that is used to damp automobiles. The spray will give a uniform color and, obviously, further damp residual vibration. I'm also thinking of making the shelf multi-tiered, a la Mana but that too will wait.
Just a few ideas....
