At first I was a bit hesitant in buying the Mozarts for fear that they might "outclass" the C370. When they arrived home and were run-in for a week, those fears soon vanished. It proved to be a very good companion with the Mozarts, making them sing loud and clearly. Bass had nice weight to it, the midrange was clean, and highs only occasionallyhinting at harsh (more a result of the CD's quality than the components). With jazz and classical the combo sounded fantastic.I'm switching to the Musical Fidelity A3 to replace the C370 for a couple of reasons:
1) To make those "harsh" recordings in my collection sound more listenable. The Mozarts are smooth and easy to listen to for hours on end, but feed'em a bad disc on gear that can reveal the warts and all, and that's what you'll get.
2) The dedicated room I'll have doesn't require the ton of power the C370 provides. It's rated at 120w but in actuality delivers much more. I decided to go with the M.F. A3 over the Creek 5350SE and can't wait to hear how it sounds with the Mozarts.
I don't think you'd be disappointed with the NAD at all. It would definitely be a step up from the Marantz. You'll get a nice soundstage (mine extended well outside and above the speakers), a ton of power, and an nice mix of sound from top to bottom, with a very nice bottom end.
Aside from your amp, you might want to consider your source as well. Switching from a Cambridge Audio D300 to a Rega Planet 2000 made a much bigger difference in sound than I thought a CD player ever could.
Good Luck!
Bill
