Glad to hear you're enjoying your Bach's. I'm a proud owner of the Mozarts but almost passed up the chnce to buy them because I'd never heard much about them.I was looking for a decent speaker for around $1500/pair to replace my NHT SuperTwos which moved to the HT. I auditioned B&W's, Energy's, Paradigm Reference, and Theil's in that price range and was set to get the Paradigm Studio 60s. Then I got a job with Tweeter. I was working at their DC out in Philly and was finally dealing with a product I had an interest in but I wasn't a big fan of many of their brands. I was constantly ducking my head in the training room and told the head of that department that I was looking for speakers in the $1500 or under price range. He recommended I stop in the next week when they'd be training on the Vienna line and I did. Boy am I glad I did!
Anyway, since I worked there I got a nice deal on a pair of Mozarts from Sumiko. It's THE BEST audio purchase I have ever made.
In regards to amplification, you're right, they do like good, clean amplification and I was surprised how well they performed with my NAD C370. I have a Musical Fidelity A3 on the way they should make them sound even better! I found they also thrive on good source equipment. When I switched from a Cambridge Audio D300 CD Player ot the Rega Planet 2000 it made a much bigger difference in sound than I ever thought possible.
Now I can't wait until my new house is done being builtso I can move them into a dedicated room. They are rather finicky with placement but once you get it right...look out!! You may want to "rake" them back a bit to open up the soundstage more (it does get bigger believe it or not!) I have my back spikes all the way in and the front spikes as far out as they go almost. The soundstage extends well beyond the outsides of the cabinet and well above the tops of the speakers as well.
They have the highest ooh...ahh...WAF factor I've ever encountered and build/finish quality is first-rate furniture grade.
Enjoy your Vienna's and happy listening!
Bill
