Probably put this concert on to celebrate the court victory over Mathew Katz.While they never achieved that tight stinging sound of the first album again, I would recommend listening to The Melvilles and the Live Grape albums. I was even pleasantly surprised by Moby Grape 84 (don't know which members were actually involved, and would advise buying it used, lest your royalties help fund a Katz appeal).
Interesting that Bill Thompson is involved, since Katz first tried his shit on the Airplane, and after losing them tried to arrange all future management deals to give him complete control, including ownership of the group name. Ever wonder why the Moby Grape and It's a Beautiful Day catelog is either absent from cd, or available only on Katz's poor sounding, over priced San Francisco Sound label?
