Negativland "Big 10-8 place" - a little more than the 10 year window you asked for.......this is a "trip" in a litleral sense as the listener follows a path from ContraCosta county to the city to get to "Safe-Muffins" to rent a carpet cleaner to get the horrible dog juice from the orange carpet.....among other things-yea this one is way out there. Very little musical content.Adrian Sherwood "Never Trust a Hippie" (NTAH) This certainly doesn't fit the rock based model as many beats are reggae and dance based but it is very very trippy- tons of fun! Vocalists are different on every track.
African Head Charge vs Professor Stretch "Drums of Defiance" again as above more dance based and world beats and world vocals but exremely out there in the stratosphere....the first track starts with a vocal: "from the pitch of the stalling cosmos, I have arrived.....missing link to earth, descendant of the sun. brother of reality....." this and NTAH have some of the best production I have ever heard. Fidelity is good to very good but the production is totally spaced!
Robert Miles "Organik" five or so genres on this albums 12 tracks. Very cool.
