RE: Enjoying new garage space

I still can't understand the peculiarly American practice of installing hi-fi in a garage!

Garages are generally places to store cars, workbench, tools, junk, etc and never used as a recreational place. They are (or really should be) uncomfortable, dirty workplaces visited when necessary to find or fix something.

The nearest thing to hi-fi in any garage I've ever seen might be an old radio covered in dust but able to provide a little noise while fixing something or tidying up the garage if this takes more than a few minutes.

There are places for hi-fi but surely not in the garage. Better (though still surely a nonsense) maybe to install a secondary system in the bathroom - most people spend far more time there than in their garage?

Or do some people use their garages to escape from their Other Half, or does their Other Half send them there for the sake of marital harmony? Better to go fishing perhaps than be stuck in a garage? ;-)
