RE: What instrument did/do you play?...

I started on trumpet, and then switched over to French horn , because we needed horns. my highlight was playing the 1st and filling in some 4th horn parts in the William tell overture.

I carried a flute when backpacking, as it was always welcome around a campfire because everyone else had a guitar. it also seemed to appeal to the birds around the campsite, and the curiosity of bears.

besides the flute, I also carried a Hugh tracy kalimba later on, as it was more portable and more casual. manipulating the sound holes are very key to playing that instrument ,

now I am learning the guitar , but am hampered by old lifelong habits on playing one note at time, so I just casually pick out melodies. I only wish I had room for a vibraphone. I also played cello , but it was only a loaner from a junior collage and I eventually had to give it back.
