*A used Naim (3 series) is a bit over your budget, but IMO is also has a relaxed presentation. *The 3 is the least laid back Naim player next to the current 5i.
Out of all Naim player, CD5 and all *S* series players have more relaxed feel.
Even then, a system incompatibility can produce a distorted trebles out of Naim players.
