All of my cables are solid silver and when I was making the transition (over a year or so replacing one cable at a time) I noticed similar harshness too. I came to realize, after subbing in copper cables, that the same harshness was still there, just less noticeable. I began to look at the other components in my system and eventually discovered it was my speakers. Replaced the speakers and have been using all silver ever since. It is important that from midrange up, your speakers' resolving ability is up to snuff. Especially when using all silver cables.
