RE: Non Mcintosh preamp match with Mcintosh MC240

I have a McIntosh 240 and have driven it with several preamps including CJ, Rogue, and the preamp outputs from a Denon home theater receiver. All work well. However, right now, I am using the preamp outputs from a Schitt Lyr 3 preamp/headphone amp/DAC and its great. Plenty of gain. Imaging, detail, transparency. If you consider the Lyr 3 and use digital sources, I recommend the multibit DAC option. I use an outboard (rotary) RCA switch for analog sources; the Lyr 3 has only one analog input pair.

This combination is pretty much a daily driver for us.
