RE: Installed Attic Antenna

For an FM tuner, as you increase the RF signal strength using a multi-element antenna with passive gain, the signal to noise ratio continues to get better. Remember the quieting curves magazines used to publish when doing tuner reviews? As RF signal increased, S/N got better, (to a point).

Perhaps you are thinking about using an RF amplifier, which usually increases the signal AND the noise by the same amount. And so usually does not help.

Usually multipath is not as much an issue with a directional multi-element antenna mounted high, like in an attic. But I do agree it's nice to try pointing it say +/- 40 degrees from the target station to see if you can find the lowest noise position.
