2. A better antenna can make a huge difference, particularly if some stations come in with noise, or are noisy in stereo. A yagi on the roof with a rotor is ideal. A yagi in the attic isn't as good, but can still be lots better. Doing whatever you can to deliver it a better signal can really pay off. You can also use a dual-trace oscilloscope connected to TP1 and TP2 to help with tuning and antenna direction.
3. Enjoy. I've had several MR-71's, and their sound is outstanding. BTW, I had Richard Modaferri do his mods on one, and it was definitely worth it.
