But if a probe slips and there's a momentary spike, it's all over. Or if one happens to accidentally touch the input with the amp at full gain, and the output stage clips, look out! Placing a small resistor across the secondary is simply a good precaution. I wouldn't even think about risking my Magnequest outputs for the sake of a stupid 25ยข resistor!
