RE: fixing a stereo volume pot

i can't really take the pot out since the knob seems to be permanently attached to the pot. there's what looks like a small screw hole on the knob, but inside is no slot whatsover, just a round plug type thing.

at any rate, from inside the pot is just one single blue box, i can't check or clean the individual pots. is there any quick method of testing if the other components are working? (the amp has 2 tubes, too.... one for each channel)
