the volume control on my headphone amp has developed the annoying and common problem of the left and right channels coming unbalanced, meaning that at low levels the left channel is louder than the right, and with the volume turned all the way down the left channel is still audible while the right is dead. the amp didn't have this issue when i bought it, turned all the way down both channels would be dead.
i've heard this happens because one of the wipers within the pot (in this case the left channel) for some reason separates from the other, so that their movements are no longer synchronized to each other... is there any way i can fix this? i have a hope that i'll be able to look at the pot and see the wiper that needs to be moved back into place.... is this possible, or do i need to buy a new pot? thanks
