It's only attractive if it works. Maybe the Satellite doesn't suffer from the same issues as the Onyx 400F, but I read on one forum that they use the same driver, and it seems the driver is what causes most folks fits.
The Satellite is indeed built better, and FW has some advantages over USB for many users. I'm from the PC side and end up with about all of my USB ports tied up on my desktop and notebook, and both have FW ports--but I have no FW devices. Seemed to me that I should use a FW audio device that wouldn't suffer problems from competition for resources as could be the case with USB.
On the other hand, my 0404 USB installation hasn't suffered from the dropouts, high CPU usage, or other problems that others have experienced, so that is a moot point now!
