A modest observation

0

The shorter the speaker cables (or jumpers or wires), the closer to the speakers the amps
must be. The closer to the speakers, the more intense the acoustic vibration to which the
amps will be subjected, especially with dipoles and rear-vented boxes. The more intense
the acoustic vibration of the amps, the more seriously degraded the performance will be.

I know that my amps, MA-1s on DeLuxe chassis and an InnerSound ESL-300, all sounded
better after I applied acoustic damping to the metal. Unless the speaker cable length
observations were made with the amps in fixed positions relative to the speakers, I don't
think we can conclude that anything mysterious is going on. I would be careful about
placing the amps close to the speakers because of acoustic vibration.
