I'm very sorry to say you don't want to use the 7236. The 7236 is a computer version of the 5998A. These tubes don't like fixed bias either. The 7236 is rated for 120 volts on the plate and the M-60 runs about 140 volts on the plates. These tubes are more prone to arc-over than the 6AS7G. I've only experimented with the Sylvania versions, so I can't comment on differing the plate structures from other manufacturers. Yes, they do have the built-in fuses, but it makes no difference in this application.
