The "invert/normal" switch, on an Atma-Sphere preamp, is a phase reversal switch. This switch does not reverse one channel's phase in relation to the other. It inverts the phase of both channels simultaneously. I've heard this function commonly called "absolute phase".I hope this make some sense. Please don't ask me if I think I can hear the difference when absolute phase is reversed. I only think I can!
