If you have a volt/ohm meter do some checking of the grounding of your amps and pre-amp. On the preamp it will be nessesary to lift the ground with an an adaptor and measure the preamp chassis to ground voltage, then reverse the plug in the wall socket and measure again. the lowest voltage is usually the best sounding and quietest. Do this for all other components. I would suspect that if this helps it will be the preamp or CD that is suspect. A buzz seems like gound loop though. Also important is connect all components to the same circuit to help eliminate ground loops.
