It's possible your preamp shorts its outputs when muted. Disconnect the CD player and try shorting pins 2 & 3 of the XLR connector to pin 1 of the same connector. Let us know if the buzz goes away. Is there buzz with all inputs connected? This will tell us where to start looking. Is the buzz coming from your tweeters, midrange, woofers or some combination? I doubt the problem is in your speakers.
