I apologize for any confusion my initial post may have caused. I hooked up my MP-3 and out of curiosity put my ear up to the tweeter to compare the level of noise with my previous preamplifier. I started with the right channel using my left ear, this was the most natural position since my speakers are toed in slightly. I heard an almost imperceptable amount of noise this way. I was very pleased. I then moved to my left channel and using my right ear listened again. This time I heard significantly more noise, relatively speaking. I then posted my original request for assistance thinking that if the right channel were nearly silent, why wasn't the left channel this quiet as well. Later I realized that my test was not very scientific having used two different ears rather than one or the other. I went back and found with my left ear both channels were nearly silent. With my right ear there was some noise in both channels. From approximately three inches away I hear nothing from either speaker using my "good" ear. I am extremely pleased with my MP-3, and agree with Mark that it is an exceptional preamplifier, I could not be happier with my purchase. God bless and thank you for your reply's.
