I installed a MP-3 preamplifier into my system within the last week and found that it nearly eliminated all noise emanating from my right speaker when idle. There is still some noise emanating from the left speaker. This only occurs when my CD source is switched on. I am already a happy camper, but it stands to reason that if the right channel can be silent the left should be able to be silent as well. My amps are Atma-Sphere M60's and I am using balanced cables to the amps. The CD source is single-ended and running through the Monitor 1 input. BTW, I think the MP-3 is phenomenal. If anyone has experienced both the MP-3 and the MP-1 I would appreciate comparative commentary on the two units. I have never heard the MP-1. God bless.
