The first version of the CLS, aka "CLS I", was actually well suited to being driven by tube OTL amps; it had a nominal Z in the bass to mid-frequencies of about 16 ohms. Like any and all ESLs, it did have a decreasing impedance with increasing frequency and may have gotten down to ca 2 ohms in the extreme inaudible treble, but that should not be a problem, since vanishingly little power is required at such frequencies. (An ESL is a giant capacitor, so Z will naturally fall with increasing f.) My CLS Is sounded way better than the CLS IIs (a really impossible spkr for OTL amps) being driven by my then Futterman amps. The IIs got down to 0.5 ohms in the upper midrange. That was not a good thing for any amp save a Krell. (Note that M-L likes to market their spkrs as a good match for a Krell amp.)
