So just how difficult would it be to modify the amplifiers to allow individual output tube biasing? This would solve most of the problem, as the only remaining issue would then be triode to triode bias balance w/in a given envelope. And that could always be addressed by (tedious) pruning. In my experience, a random batch of Svet 6AS7s, about half exhibit OK balance w/in a given envelope. They cost what, $15 each ex-factory? So you buy an M60 pair of amps, order 32 of the Svets; hell, let's round it up and say 3 dozen. You rotate them into the amps in-circuit, bias each tube INDIVIDUALLY, then pop the bottoms and measure voltage off the 1 ohm plate resistors to evaluate the relative intra-tube bias balance. Cull the lousy tubes, put new ones in, and repeat (after letting the keeper tubes fully cool down!!)Tell me why this wouldn't work please.
