The original post did not specify the DCR or conductor gauge of the inductors in the original Sonist Concerto 4 crossovers, and you are correct that replacing them with ones substantially different in this respect will likely sound different. I couldn't find any info online about the Sonist crossovers though to be honest I got only about 2 pages deep into a google search. I use DIY copper ribbon speaker cables via the late Allen Wright's book which replaced some 12 ga. Apertures some time ago. The Apertures by comparison sounded warm and a bit fuzzy, while the ribbons were more towards the analytic side with better instrument locality. The ribbons were there to stay as I can make up for the analytic tendency with tube choice. Following this I went with the Alph Core ribbon inductors which replaced some iron core EV Sledgehammer inductors (12 ga. I think) and it was really no contest, as the EV's were grainy sounding on transients while the Alphas were not. So for me the foil ribbons win, but anyones milage may vary of course depending on which way you want to go sound wise in a particular context. BTW the Dueland caps Tish bought for the project use tinned copper film/foil.
