I come at hifi from a completely different angle than Michael. I'm more hairshirt, triode and full range driver (with a subwoofer), while Michael is clearly more old school high end. But he does indeed love records and he knows his stuff backwards. He can be pungent with his opinions but it's not like he hides it, and his opinions are in substance pretty reliable. That's coming from someone who has read his stuff for a very long time.
