It's pure physics. Sound travels in wave lengths. Moving one or both can change the sound dramatically and is free. Very much worth while way to spend some time.Reviewers I've lost alot of respect for. They talk like they're some sort of omniscient entity when in reality they know no more if as much as many of us do. That room is pathetic, I don't care what the owner says. There's no way you can give a fair evaluation in a setup like that. It would only be valid for that person in that room.
Reviewers have some good points but at this point I feel they're outweighed by the b.s. like "oh this sounded terrible until I changed wire", yeah right. There's so much crap going on in the high end it's enough to make one vomit if you read much of it.
In my opinion the print magazines do as much of a disservice to the high end as a service. The damage they do to prospective high enders by statements like the one above is insane. There's all these wire reviews but room treatment, where there is really an improvement, is seldom mentioned. That's because there's alot of reviewers too stupid to understand how well it can work. It's also because they want the advertising money from the wire makers more than being honest with their readers.
As a matter of fact if anybody lives in the Portland, Or Vancouver, Wa area I've got alot of older issues of Stereophile and the absolute crap you can have for free. Yes, I am disgusted. Forgive the rant but it's been building up inside of me for a while. Thanks
