I have had 2 pairs of AN-E speakers, both finished products. My first pair were the Lexus models. I recently upgraded to the Lx Signatures. Let me say this, those outboard crossovers make an absolutely HUGE difference. The midrange is so open, neutral and free from congestion. I did not realize that the Lexus models were even congested at all until I heard the Lx Signatures. Going with the outboard crossovers is like making a quantum leap. So my advice to you is that if you don't want to spend the money on the Lx Signatures, then go with the kit 4. Its a very nice kit and will sound very similar to the finished product Lexus HE. If you're looking to get that sound that you described hearing in the AN room at RMAF, then my advice is to chunk down the change for a pair of E's with the outboard crossovers, such as the Lx Signatures. That is what Dave had in the AN room for the last couple of years. They cost more money, but they certainly more than deliver the goods soundwise. Are they worth more than twice the price of the SPe/HE and almost three times the Lexus/HE? Absolutely. They have few peers in any price range.
