I think it's fair to say that a large proportion of the price of the finished AN/Es is the labour involved in constructing and finishing the cabinets - which from all accounts are wooden works of art. That, and the wholesaler and dealer mark ups, account for most of the cost difference, I would guess. All the Kit speaker components go through the same AN matching process as the finished speakers, so there are no cost savings to be had there.On the subject of enclosures, I should state for completeness that I have Brian's pre-assembed but unfinished cabinets and they are VERY well built. My retired father is an avid woodworker and he was quite impressed with the quality and close tolerances.
