Amp/Preamp Asylum Looking for a new Amp or Preamp? If you're after tubes, post over here. |

I presently bi-amp my speakers with a pair of amps (two of the same amps) that have gain controls. I run the gains on the top-end amp at almost full throttle. The gains on the bottom-end amp run at about three-quarters. Tone controls on the preamp are set at flat. I find this combination of settings produces the best sound quality.
I see many amps today have no gain controls. When bi-amping with amps that have no gain controls, how would one set the balance of the top-end and bottom-end, without resorting to playing around with the preamp's tone controls?
