Reproduction in a small domestic space versus live production in a large space. (Big differences there.)

But, regards the Acoustats, an inherently complicated lobing pattern, to be sure. Numerous lobes with adjacent ones out of phase with each other. That's why I always find your "I'm a coherency freak" comments to be amusing. :) If coherency (or "coherency") alone were the highest priority, these would not be the speakers of choice.

None of that is to say that excellent audible results can't be obtained with large radiators like A-stat's. Magnepan's are another largish example of a speaker that performs extremely well considering all the (relative) physical/acoustical/electrical hurdles present.
